Gojukai Karatedo

Generally speaking 'Gojukai' refers to the 2 associations that were formed by Kaiso Gogen Yamaguchi, Japan Karatedo Gojukai Association and International Karatedo Gojukai Association. It is a rich and evolved style/association that has branches on every continent. The integrity of the Karate that originated with Kaiso Gogen Yamaguchi is maintained by both his son, President and Grand Master Goshi Yamaguchi, but also by the Shihans and Chief Instructors in each country and Block. Curriculum for IKGA Canada

IKGA Canada follows closely with what is taught by all other IKGA associations, in particular with what is taught by Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi. The curriculum is extensive, and includes detailed instruction in Kihon (Basics) Kata (Preset patterns), Kumite (Sparring) and Bunkai (Kata Analysis). While grading requirements are strictly adhered to, instructors are encouraged to include all aspects of Gojuryu Karate in their classes. Elements like Ne-Waza (throwing techniques), Ashi-Barai (sweeping techniques) and traditional defense techniques are not necessarily part of the grading syllabus, but they are taught and explored in each Dojo.
